1. The Faint "Danse Macabre"
Finally found the perfect combination of clinical new wave and prissy punk!

2. Dragibus "Papriko"
The artist Steve Cerio turned me on to this French duo playing haphazard kiddie musique. The helium-voiced singer inspires reviewers to call them "Lolita rock."

3. Splashdown "Blueshift"
Dissed by Capital, the band imploded, but finally released their last, shelved album as a bootleg to worshipful fans. They coulda made radio exciting again.

4. LiLiPUT
Double CD re-release of the best of the late 70s German girly punk group. Fun!!!

5. Deltron 3030 "The Instrumentals"
High-concept, moody instrumental turntablism along the lines of DJ Shadow or the RZA.

6. Cat Five "Kataphonics"
Sugary mix of breakbeats, film music, cartoon scores and more.

7. Adult. "Resuscitation"
Electro revivalists break down the door with relentless repitions.

8. Fantomas "The Director's Cut"
Mike Patton projects John Zorn and one-ups his previous schizo bands with a disc of re-interpreted film music.

9. Chris Vrenna "Alice" Video Game Soundtrack
Creepy and dark, constructed from antique toys and awful string samples.

10. Toydeath "Pokey As Shake"
A real endurance test, but how can I not love a project based entirely on cheap electronic toys? (AND it's Australian DIY.)
Stephen Beaupre
